Certified copies
CG Solicitors offers legalisation of documents issued in England and Wales. In order to present documents to Italian offices or in court, they must be authenticated. Since 1965, Great Britain has been a party to the Hague Convention No. 12 for the exemption of foreign public documents from consular legalisation. Authentication is carried out by means of an apostille, which confirms the authenticity of the seal and signature, but not of the content. Only the legalisation office, a department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is responsible for issuing apostilles.
An apostille is a square-shaped stamp, which has the inscription in French "Convention de La Haye du 5 octobre 1961“. The stamp indicates the signature of the person authenticating the apostille and contains the date and the identification number of the apostille.
For example, the following documents can be certified with an apostille: certain civil status documents, educational documents (report cards, certificates, diplomas), extracts from the commercial register, courts' decisions, copies of documents certified by a notary, translations certified by a notary and other notarial documents (Powers of Attorney, wills, declarations). An apostille can only be affixed to an original document, which must be in good external condition. In addition, all stamps and signatures must be understandable and legible and must not contain any foreign marks or inscriptions- We also offer a variety of services related to the legalisation of documents abroad to meet your needs.
